Here are recommendations for clothing and accessories, serving as a prompt for essential items ensuring your comfort. Feel free to incorporate personal preferences.

Footwear:

  • Well-worn, waterproof walking boots with proper ankle support
  • Trekking or travel-friendly trainer/casual shoes
  • Insulated socks for colder regions
  • Gaiters for rain or snow
  • Ice cleats/shoe gripper for icy or snowy trails

Leg Wear:

  • Casual trekking trousers
  • Thermal leggings for colder climates
  • Long skirt (for women as an alternative)
  • Waterproof trousers

Body:

  • Assortment of T-shirts and long-sleeved shirts (preferably non-cotton)
  • Thermal shirt for colder regions
  • Warm shirt, perhaps fleece, for colder areas
  • Fleece jacket or wool jumper
  • Windproof, waterproof outer shell for higher altitudes
  • Down jacket (optional for chilly nights, available for rent in Kathmandu)

Head/Hands:

  • Wool or fleece hat, or balaclava
  • Sun-protective hat or cap
  • Sunglasses or goggles
  • Warm gloves

Other Essentials:

  • Sturdy rucksack or large holdall for porters
  • Daypack for valuables (passport, cash, camera, travel documents)
  • Plastic bags or stuff sacks to organize gear in the main bag
  • 1-liter water bottle
  • Personal first aid kit
  • 3-4 Season sleeping bag, headlamp/torch
  • Camera, memory cards, charger, tripod if needed
  • Large handkerchief/bandana, towel, toiletries

Optional Items:

  • Binoculars, Books or an eBook, Altimeter, Compass, and GPS
  • Playing cards, backgammon, chess set, etc.

For Mountaineering:

In addition to trekking gear, the following specialized items are needed for trekking peaks:

  • Plastic or leather mountaineering boots, with gaiters and tested crampons

For Peak Climbing:

  • Fleece trousers
  • Additional mitts and climbing suitable gloves
  • Ice axe, ski poles (ice axe available for hire in Kathmandu)
  • Climbing harness
  • 2 x tape slings
  • 2 x screw gate carabiners
  • Descender/abseil device
  • Ascender
